Japanese arrested in the Philippines for running illegal manga website

A man wanted in Japan for allegedly infringing copyrights by running illegal manga website has been detained in Manila, Philippines.

Romi Hoshino(28) opened the website around January 2016 and started to upload Japanese manga. As the website getting popular, it had the total of 100 million visitors per month.

The website shuts down in April 2018 as Japanese Government blocks the users to access the website and launched a manhunt for the founder of the said website.
Manga publishers lost about 319.2 billion yen in potential revenues because of the  illegal website, Manga-mura.

Hoshino was arrested at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila with the help of Philippines' Bureau of Immigration.
